During October 2008, we were able to welcome Rev Timothy Dymchenko to Tyndale for a two week visit. Timothy is pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Mukachevo, Ukraine. Grace Baptist Church has a membership of 42 and a congregation of 60-65. It was planted by Timothy and a group of Christians just 6 years ago. They were able to convert a building as a place of worship but that only holds 55 people so already they need somewhere larger. They have the land and have done some groundworks (drainage etc) but are now waiting on the Lord for finance to build the new church.
Timothy and his wife Tanya, have five children, two girls (Olga aged 15 and Nastia 13) and three boys, (Ivan aged 14, David 10 and Samuel 9). Their eldest daughter Olga was recently baptised in the local river. The church has also seen many others professing Christ in baptism too. The church has a wide ranging ministry which includes youth work, street evangelism, and summer camps for young people.
During our Harvest service on Sunday morning (19th October) Timothy spoke about the church work and his family and showed us photographs of them and the town in which they live. He also presented Tyndale Church with a pair of beautifully turned wooden candlesticks, one representing Grace Church and the other Tyndale Church.

Trusting God When You're Losing Money |

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”. Proverbs 3:5 & 6 NIV.
An open letter to Christian believers rom Colin Smith, Senior Pastor, The Orchard Evangelical Free Church October 10, 2008
Dear Friends,
We are living in extraordinary days. In the last two weeks, the stock market has lost over 2,000 points. Folks in our congregation who work in finance and in business have watched in dismay as trillions of dollars have been lost in massive spasms of selling.
These traumatic events, that at first may have seemed distant from many of us, will soon affect all of us, and many are already feeling the effects of this financial crisis. Some who a few days ago were enjoying life on a comfortable pension are now feeling anxious about the future. Others, who were looking forward to retirement, now find that their dream is postponed. Families saving diligently for a son or daughter to attend college may now find that their funds fall short of their target, and some folks who felt secure in their jobs last month now wonder how long their employer will be able to keep them. |

New Pulpit for Tyndale Chapel |

Tyndale Chapel is a lovely little building, situated in Little Sodbury End. The place was built in 1890 and has room for a congregation of about 60 people. Today it is too small for our regular Sunday services and since 1995 these have been held in Dodington Parish Hall, Finch Road (off Heron Way) in Chipping Sodbury. But the Chapel is still used regularly for some Sunday services, midweek meetings, weddings and funerals. Recently the Chapel was enriched by a gift of a wonderful new pulpit. |
